About This Emulators
Dualis 20.4 is an early Nintendo DS emulator for x86/Win32 computers running Windows. Dualis was created in the first years of the DS emulation scene and it was very much an experimental emulator focusing on homebrew software, development tools and testing different parts of the Nintendo DS hardware, unlike modern Nintendo DS emulators. It was mostly written in C++ and x86 assembly language . The project had a plugin - based architecture . June 2007 saw the release of version 20.4, one of the last releases of the project. Dualis 20.4 is especially interesting from an emulation-history point of view because it implemented several parts of the DS hardware, including ARM9-related CPU functionality, graphics rendering, audio features, timers, interrupts, DMA and touchscreen-related input. However it is not intended to be a modern highly compatible emulator. The official documentation for the project explicitly states that it cannot run cartridge dumps, and the documentation for the emulator at the time describes its ability to run commercial games as extremely limited.
