About This Emulators
NeutrinoSX2 (also known as nSX2) is an early experimental emulator project created to explore the emulation of Sony's PlayStation 2 console on computer systems. Project developed by Muad and the nSX2 development team, and released under the GNU General Public License version 2 (GPLv2). It was archived as version 0.08.1 in June 2003. This emulator was one of the first big development efforts, but never matured into a reliable way to play a wide selection of commercial PlayStation 2 games. NeutrinoSX2 is not a modern PS2 emulator, but an early stage of console-emulation development, when the implementation and testing of CPU instructions, memory management, graphics, input and other hardware components were still in progress. It is now mainly of historical and technical interest. A more actively maintained alternative is recommended for those who want more reliable support for commercial PS2 games.
