The story is about a young princess, Rosella, who is stranded on a tropical island after a shipwreck. Raised by a pack of animal friends, she slowly learns how to talk to and live with them. The Prince Antonio finds her and her quiet life on the island is changed forever as she begins a journey away from the island. The Nintendo DS version takes you on this journey in a collection of mini-games with locations and characters taken from the animated movie. The activities present different challenges, whilst still continuing the overall story.

Barbie as the Island Princess | ROM-DOWNLOAD Gameplay

Barbie as the Island Princess is a series of mini-games created around short, easy to access challenges. Instead of traditional combat, players complete activities involving objects, animals, music, timing, memory and touch screen interaction. There are 12 mini-games in the DS version and they are set in four locations: Deserted Island, Royal Ship, Apollonian Castle and Royal Greenhouse. Examples are Pearl Plunge where Rosella collects treasures and avoids obstacles; Coco Catch, a game where the player catches coconuts; and Island Tales, where the player uses the stylus to help teach Prince Antonio animal language. Other activities include music, dancing, flower collecting, memory challenges and gardening. Scoring well in the mini-games earns points and helps to unlock extra clothing and accessories for Rosella. The DS version also features animated movie clips which can be unlocked and played back from the Extras section.
