Spy vs Spy |ROM-DOWNLOAD Story

Spy vs. Spy is a classic action-puzzle game based on the famous black-and-white spy characters from MAD Magazine. The Game Boy Colour version pits the White Spy and Black Spy against each other in a race to collect important items and escape before their rival can complete the same mission. The basic idea is simple, but each room is dangerous due to the rivalry. The two spies are looking in a number of places for a briefcase and four important items. Players will need to thoroughly search rooms and interact with various objects to uncover what is hidden inside, as these items are concealed within furniture and other objects scattered throughout the building. The items needed are a passport, a key, some money and other secret items, and the briefcase allows the spy to carry the collected items together. You can't carry much without the briefcase, so it's a lot harder to efficiently grab everything. The White Spy and Black Spy want the same general thing, but neither wants the other one to win. All the spies can lay traps around the building, while looking for the necessary objects. A well-placed bomb, spring, water trap or other obstacle can make your opponent waste time and force them to retrieve lost items. It's not serious espionage, but rather the humorous slapstick style of the original Spy vs. Spy comic. If the character is captured or defeated by the other spy, it takes the character out of play for the time being and allows the other spy to continue searching. In single-player mode, one spy fights the computer-controlled enemy. The Game Boy Colour version also offers competitive two-player gameplay through the Game Link Cable, where two players can go head-to-head. The result is a straightforward story about speed, exploration, deception, and competition. Spy vs. Spy may not have a long cinematic campaign, but it does possess the same basic mission structure, and allows the rivalry between the two spies to build the action.

Spy vs Spy |ROM-DOWNLOAD Gameplay

Spy vs. Spy combines action, puzzle solving, exploration, item collecting and trap setting. The Game Boy Colour version features a room-based layout, in which you control your spy around different areas to find hidden objects. The objective is to collect the items you need, lock the briefcase, and get to the correct exit before the other spy. Furniture and things in the rooms are important because you can hide necessary items in them. Players have to walk around the environment and interact with desks, cabinets, picture frames, coat hangers and other objects to see what they contain. The briefcase is especially important because it changes the number of items a spy can carry. The spy is limited to the amount of mission objects they can carry at one time without it. Finding it early can give a player a major advantage. Its most unique game mechanic is its trap system. Spies can place a number of traps around the building to hinder or defeat their opponent. Bombs and springs can be concealed under furniture, and water traps can be set by doors. Some traps are also time-based, punishing an opponent who lingers too long in a dangerous room. Traps need to be handled strategically, because a spy can be caught in their own traps. Players have to remember what dangerous objects they set and not accidentally set them off when they go back to get another item. The game also has ways to detect or counter traps . Some protective items can neutralise some dangers and the map has useful information about rooms that contain important objects or traps. If the two spies meet, they may fight each other. The player can attack the rival spy and steal their power until they are temporarily knocked out. You can carry weapons like a knife or stick to give you more combat advantages. The Game Boy Colour version lets you play alone or against a friend. The Game Link Cable also allows for a 2-player mode in which the other player controls the other spy. The race is a lot more unpredictable, since the opponent is no longer computer-controlled.

How to Play Spy vs Spy |ROM-DOWNLOAD

Launch the game and select your desired mode. Play against the computer or use the Game Link Cable for two-player competition. Choose a location and begin to look for the necessary items in the rooms. Use the D-Pad to walk your spy through the building. Walk through open doorways into other rooms and examine furniture and objects in those rooms. Interact with objects to see if they contain a required item, a useful tool or a trap. The main goal is to get the briefcase and four mission items. This briefcase is especially useful as it allows the spy to carry all of the other necessary items together. When you have all the necessary items, locate the right exit and get out before your opponent can do the same. Be vigilant of your environment, for the other spy may have set traps in rooms you’ve already explored. Bombs, springs, water traps and time traps can interrupt your progress and cost you valuable time. You can use your own traps to fight the enemy spy. Pick a trap . Place it somewhere appropriate . Set it in the path of the other spy . Setting traps in good positions can also make the opponent lose time or lose the items they were carrying. Another important tool is the map. It helps you understand the layout of the building, and can give information on the location of important items and traps. The map will help to avoid unnecessary backtracking. If you spot the opposing spy, you can fight directly. Keep attacking until your opponent is down and out, then take the opportunity to keep searching. But if you are already close to your objective, don't spend too much time fighting. The best approach is caution at speed. If you search all of the rooms and don’t account for your opponent, you could end up vulnerable. But if you spend too much time setting traps, the other spy could collect the necessary items before you do.
