Most Wanted, Need for Speed follows a street racer who comes to Rockport to make a name for himself among the best drivers in the city. The player starts the story with a very desirable BMW M3 GTR, but things quickly change when the protagonist meets the Black List racers of the city. His biggest rival is ambitious racer Clarence “Razor” Callahan, who will stop at nothing to make it to the top of the Black List. The protagonist enters a race against Razor, but it does not go as planned. Razor manages to win the race and take possession of the player's BMW due to a mechanical problem. The main character is left without a competitive car and has to start from scratch with a much weaker car. With the help of Mia Townsend, the hero starts to restore their good name in Rockport. The aim is to work through the Black List one racer at a time. Each rival is a level up in competition and the player must complete a series of races and milestones before unlocking a final challenge. As the player progresses, the money won from races can be used to buy faster cars and upgrade their performance. The police as well become more interested in the protagonist as their reputation and heat level increases. This creates a second challenge, in addition to the actual racing: the player must not only win the races but survive the increasingly intense police chases as well. The Black List system allows the story to move forward easily. Every racer the protagonist defeats gets him closer to Razor and the BMW M3 GTR. The campaign revolves around the main conflict between the protagonist and Razor. Another big threat is Police officer Cross, who constantly chases after the player and makes high heat chases more dangerous. The hero finally gets to the top of the Black List and takes on Razor in the final battle. The last race is the chance to win back the BMW M3 GTR and to end the rivalry that began when the game started. Launch career mode and get through the intro events that are available first. Your first car won't be the fastest car in Rockport so concentrate on making money and upgrading its performance. Use the map to find available races and challenges. Select an event and follow the on-screen route. In races, try to keep your speed up without hitting traffic, walls, barriers or other obstacles. Learn to use shortcuts where you can. There are many trails in Rockport that can give you an advantage over your opponents. But shortcuts can also have traffic or hard turns so use them wisely. When you win races you get your rewards and you spend your earnings wisely. Performance upgrades can increase acceleration, top speed, handling and braking. The lower you go on the Black List, the tougher the competition. Upgrade your car before you take on important rival races, especially against higher-ranked opponents. Police chases can be in and out of races. If police start chasing you, maintain the speed and look for opportunities to get away. Use tight turns, narrow streets, jumps and pursuit breakers to break up chasing vehicles. Watch your Heat Level during chases. The more heat, the more intense the police response. Getting away becomes more and more important. If your vehicle is badly damaged, go to a safe place and repair it when you can. Don’t chase anything you don’t have to when getting ready for a big race. Finish the required milestones for each Black List driver. They could be winning races, reaching a certain speed, escaping the police, or accumulating a target bounty. Complete enough milestones to challenge the associated Black List rival. Defeating rivals will move you up the ladder and get you closer to Razor. Keep on upgrading your car and expanding your garage as you go. Try out the different vehicles available, as some cars might do better than others in different situations. The aim is to defeat all the Black List racers, become number one, face Razor, and get the BMW M3 GTR back.
