Story
Animal Crossing: Wild World doesn’t have a standard story with an ending. Instead the game starts with the player moving to a new village and beginning a new life. Upon arrival, the player meets Tom Nook, a shopkeeper who gives the player a house and assigns the player several tasks to help pay off the first debt. Once he’s settled in the player can explore the village and interact with the animal residents. Every character has a personality and a daily routine; making the village feel alive and always in flux. Players can decorate rooms, collect furniture, improve their house, earn Bells, participate in seasonal events, and develop friendships with villagers. The open-ended nature of the game means there’s no one way to play. Players can spend their time fishing, catching bugs, designing their home, talking to villagers, looking for fossils or just enjoying the changing village.
Gameplay
The gameplay is based on life simulation and the management of a virtual village. You control your character from a third-person/top-down perspective, interacting with pretty much everything you see. Players can collect fruit from trees, plant new trees, dig up fossils, catch insects, fish in rivers and ponds, and sell items for Bells. Bells are the game's main currency and can be used to buy furniture, clothing, tools and other items. One of the most important features is the ability to customise your house. Players can buy furniture and place it in their house to create their favourite interior design. The village is changing before our eyes. The clock has a real clock face, and the seasons bring different weather, events, fish, insects, and environmental changes. Players can also talk to villagers every day. Talking with residents, fulfilling requests, sending letters and giving gifts can improve relationships.
