The player reaches Forget-Me-Not Valley, and starts work on an abandoned farm. Upon hearing of the Harvest Goddess’ disappearance, the player is asked to help restore the valley and find the Harvest Sprites. Farm. Unlock new areas, characters and events through different activities. Players meet villagers, make friends, attend seasonal events and can develop relationships with eligible characters along the way. The objective of the game is to build the farm, restore the magic balance in the valley and live a prosperous life in Forget-Me-Not Valley.

Harvest Moon DS is a farming/life sim game where you play day to day. Players plant and harvest crops in their season, manage livestock, forage, fish, mine and communicate with villagers. There is only so much time and energy in a day so players have to spend them wisely. Crops must be watered, cared for. Animals must be fed regularly and cared for. If you farm successfully you make money that you can spend on upgrading the farm, buying tools, animals, seeds and other useful things. The Nintendo DS touchscreen is also used for various interaction and game play functions.

First clear and develop your farm; Plant seeds of the season. Water your crops regularly. Harvest crops when they are ready. Invest your farm income in better equipment, seed and livestock. Play and feed chickens, cows, sheeps and other farm animals . Search the environment for useful resources, wild items and fishes. Regularly converse with the villagers to increase your friendship levels, and participate in festivals and special events. Build up your farm, delve the mines to collect valuable materials and improve your tools.
