Samus Aran is contacted by a mysterious message warning her of an ancient race that once wielded a power capable of threatening the entire galaxy. Samus journeys to faraway Alinos, Arcterra and other locations to find out the source of the message and look for ancient relics. But Samus isn’t the only bounty hunter who has answered the mysterious transmission. Six deadly hunters are also after the legendary power, each with their own powers and motives. Samus travels through various planets, encounters hostile creatures, security systems, puzzles and rival hunters. Her mission eventually leads her to the secrets of the ancient Alimbic civilisation and the mysterious force behind the message.

Most of Metroid Prime: Hunters is played in a first-person perspective. Players guide Samus through connected worlds, hunting for weapons, upgrades, artefacts, and routes. The controls revolve around the Nintendo DS touchscreen. Players use the stylus to aim Samus’ weapons, look around, interact with the interface and perform a variety of actions. Samus has a variety of weapons and abilities she can use to kill enemies and solve environmental puzzles. Different weapons are effective against different enemies and can also open up areas that were previously inaccessible. It also features multiple playable bounty hunters, each with unique weapon systems and alternate forms. The multiplayer component allows players to compete in Deathmatch and King of the Hill modes, with up to four players communicating wirelessly.

Take control of Samus Aran and explore the various alien worlds as you search for objectives, weapons, upgrades and ancient artefacts. Aim and look around using the Nintendo DS touchscreen, then attack enemies by targeting their weak points. Make sure to explore, as some areas require new abilities or weapons to enter. Uncover the secrets of the environment, slay hostile creatures and rival bounty hunters, and gather important artefacts as you go through the story. You can also fight other hunters in multiplayer mode, with various weapons and abilities to outsmart your opponents.
