Tekken Advance is not a long cinematic story, but follows the basic concept of competition that the Tekken series is based on. Fighters have their own reasons and rivalries for attending a martial arts tournament. Players pick a character and battle through a series of opponents, eventually facing tougher fighters and aiming to become tournament champion. The game includes a number of recognisable Tekken characters, such as one of the main fighters, Jin Kazama. Each character has his own style of fighting, attacks and special techniques. Players battle their way through increasingly tougher opponents, and need to learn how to use their character effectively.

Tekken Advance is a 2D fighting game designed specifically for the Game Boy Advance. Players choose a fighter and compete against opponents in one-on-one matches. The objective is to reduce the opponent's health before the timer expires. The game includes punches, kicks, special attacks, defensive movements, and combos. Timing is important because attacking at the wrong moment can leave a fighter vulnerable to a counterattack. Each character has different moves and fighting characteristics. Players can experiment with combinations of buttons to discover powerful attacks and learn how to chain attacks together. The portable format makes matches quick and accessible while retaining the basic competitive spirit of Tekken. Players can progress through battles, defeat opponents, and improve their understanding of each fighter's moves.

Choose your favourite character from the available fighters and start a match. Use the directional controls to move your character forward, backwards and jump where needed; Attack buttons - punch and kick. Press direction and attack buttons for various techniques. Watch your opponent carefully and don't keep attacking without thinking about where they are. You can open up counter attacks by blocking and stepping away from attacks. Learn your character’s best moves and practice combos that can rack up a ton of damage. Each round is time-limited, so try to maintain control of the fight and avoid taking unnecessary damage. As you go on the enemies become tougher needing good timing, positioning and knowledge of their attacks.
