Advance Wars |ROM-DOWNLOAD Story

In Advance Wars, the action takes place in a fictional world where a number of countries are engaged in military conflicts. The campaign is played from the perspective of Orange Star, one of the main countries in the game. The main character is Andy, a young Commanding Officer of the Orange Star. Andy is energetic and enthusiastic but sometimes inexperienced and his journey through the campaign introduces players to the game's military systems and the other Commanding Officers who become important to the story. Orange Star starts a fight with neighbouring forces at the beginning of the campaign. What at first appears to be a simple military conflict slowly grows into a much bigger danger involving many countries and a mysterious enemy called the Black Hole Army. Throughout the campaign, players meet other Commanding Officers such as Max, Sami, Nell, and various other officers from other countries. Each character has their own personality, leadership style and strategic specialisation. Max is known for his powerful units in direct combat and strong offensive capabilities. Sami focuses on infantry and indirect strategic benefits and is especially good at capturing properties and controlling objectives. Nell is an important Commanding Officer and guide in the campaign. The story develops slowly out of the original Orange Star conflict. The player is involved with forces from other countries, including Blue Moon, Green Earth and Yellow Comet. Each of these countries has its own Commanding Officers, military styles, and relationships to Orange Star. With the arrival of the Black Hole Army, the nature of the conflict changes. You can’t just be fighting your neighbours . The allied armies have to work together to stop a much larger military threat . The campaign introduces new mechanics and characters and progressively increases the complexity of the battles. Between missions, the story is told through the conversations between Commanding Officers, giving the player insight into the characters’ personalities and the changing political climate. Advance Wars is more about strategy than great cinematic storytelling, but the campaign still has enough character interaction and development to make the individual battles feel like they’re part of something bigger.

Advance Wars |ROM-DOWNLOAD Gameplay

Advance Wars is a turn-based strategy game where the player controls military units on a grid-based map. On each turn the player is able to move available units, attack enemies, capture properties, resupply units and more. The battlefield is made up of terrain tiles. Different terrains give you different bonuses. Cities and bases can improve the defensive position, and may provide vital strategic resources. Roads speed up some units; forests and mountains slow down movement and add to defence. Rivers and other geographical hazards can restrict movement and force players to go another way. Units are classified into various types. Infantry and Mech units are especially important when taking properties. Tanks are great for ground combat, artillery can hit from afar. Recon units can be used to scout out the battlefield and anti-air units can be used to fight enemy aircraft. Air units offer another dimension of fighting. Helicopters can attack different kinds of ground targets . Fighter aircraft are designed to dominate the skies . Bombers are quite powerful against many ground units, but must be handled with care. Naval units are also useful for maps that include oceans and waterways. Battleships can attack powerfully at long range, while other naval units have other strategic roles. Players should not attack an enemy without considering the position of their units, as there is no guaranty of victory. Combat outcome is influenced by unit type, unit health, terrain and other battlefield factors. Unit cost and resource management is one of the most important strategic concepts. You have cities, factories, airports, ports and other properties that generate money to buy other military units. Capturing properties can be just as important as defeating enemy forces. The gameplay itself was also set apart by the Commanding Officers. Each CO has a unique CO Power that can turn the tide of battle. Players will have to build up the right amount of CO Power and know when to use it. Patience and planning are rewarded in the game. If a player throws strong units into enemy territory without regard for terrain or enemy units, they can lose the battle very quickly. Players who succeed usually build defences , take key positions , buy properties , and slowly whittle down the enemy forces .

How to Play Advance Wars |ROM-DOWNLOAD

Start up the game and pick the campaign or gameplay mode you want to play. In the course of the campaign, players will go through a series of tactical missions and get to know the different Commanding Officers and military units. Before you move your units at the start of a battle, look at the whole map. Locate enemy positions, and key sites such as factories, airports, ports, bridges, and other strategic locations. Choose a unit, and move it within its available movement range. Each unit has different movement capabilities, so always consider the terrain before deciding where to place a unit. Capture cities, bases and other properties with infantry. Capturing these locations will increase your income and give you access to more military resources. Use tanks and other armoured units to fight enemy ground forces. Avoid deploying costly units into situations where they may be surrounded or attacked by several enemy units. Artillery should normally be located behind frontline units. Units that fire indirectly can attack from a distance, and are most useful when protected by more powerful units. Kill enemy helicopters and other aircraft with anti-air units. Maintain your fighters when air superiority is at stake, and use your bombers sparingly, as they are valuable. If a fight gets rough, consider the special powers of your Commanding Officer. If you can trigger a CO Power at the right time, you can turn a losing situation into an advantage. 1: Always know your unit’s health. Damaged units are less effective and some units are repairable or resuppliable at suitable locations . Don't waste valuable units for a small tactical advantage. Each mission may have different goals. Some battles involve taking a headquarters or some other strategic objective while others require the player to destroy all enemy units. After campaign missions are completed players also unlock other maps, multiplayer, and map-design features.
