Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade |ROM-DOWNLOAD Story

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade takes place on the continent of Elibe, a world once torn apart by a legendary war between man and dragons. The ancient war, known as the Scouring, ended with the continent falling under the control of humanity and the dragons vanishing from the known world. Now, nearly a thousand years later, the reverberations of that lost struggle are beginning to reach a new generation. The principal character is Roy, son of Eliwood and the young heir to Pherae. At the start of the story, Roy is a nobleman, who is called upon to lead his father's army when the Kingdom of Bern begins an aggressive campaign against the surrounding lands. King Zephiel rules Bern, and his ambitions threaten to upset the political balance of Elibe with his powerful army. Bern’s forces march across the continent to protect Lycia and allied lands, and Roy joins the fight. What seems at first to be a typical political war turns out to be tied to the age-old bond between humans and dragons. Roy travels through the different areas of Elibe, meeting soldiers, nobles, mercenaries, villagers, dragons and other enigmatic characters. One of the key elements of the story is the relationship between Roy and the various characters he recruits. There are many playable characters who can gain support from one another. These relationships can add more personality details, explain character histories and affect gameplay bonuses and some ending details. One of the signature features of the series was the support system. During the campaign, Roy is also tied into legendary weapons and the ancient history of Elibe. The Binding Blade or Sword of Seals becomes a major factor in the latter part of the story. The weapon is linked to the history of the world and Roy’s part in the conflict. Therefore, the storyline is more than a war between two kingdoms. It’s a story that combines political intrigue, personal relationships, ancient history, legendary weapons and the ongoing conflict between humans and dragons. Depending on the player's progress and choices, different events and endings may become available.

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade |ROM-DOWNLOAD Gameplay

Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade is a turn based tactical game that plays out on a grid based battlefield. You control a party of characters, and can move them around the map one square at a time per turn. Each character has a class, a weapon type, statistics, a movement range and a role on the battlefield. Players must watch where enemies are and decide the safest path to attack before they can move. Different strength of fighters, knights, archers, mages, cavalry units, healers and other classes. A good tactical formation means that the weaker characters can survive and the stronger units can take on the dangerous enemies. Combat is largely based on the weapon triangle. Swords tend to be good against axes, axs tend to be good against lances, and lances tend to be good against swords. This system incentivizes players to select the appropriate character and weapon for each encounter. Combat is calculated by stats such as strength, skill, speed, defence, resistance and luck. Weapons also have a durability system, so players need to use their equipment wisely. If a weapon reaches zero durability it cannot be used until it is replaced or repaired through game mechanics. The experience also has a great deal of character development. The experience is gained from fighting in battles and then the characters can upgrade their level and statistics. Some classes can eventually promote into stronger classes that greatly increase their combat power. The permanent-death mechanic adds further tension. The standard for a playable character’s death in combat is usually permanent, unless the player chooses to reload an earlier save. This makes every battle meaningful and encourages thoughtfulness.

How to Play Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade |ROM-DOWNLOAD

Start the game and begin the campaign with Roy as the protagonist. As the story progresses you will get new units and access to different battle maps. During a battle, move one of your units across the grid. Pay attention to the movement range highlight and the attack ranges of the enemies before you commit to a position. If you push a unit too far forward it can be attacked by several enemies at once. If an enemy is in range, select a suitable attack option. Choose a weapon that gives you a tactical advantage over your opponent’s weapon. After attacking, consider if the character is safe from enemy counterattacks. Use defensive characters like knights to protect weaker units and archers and mages to attack from suitable distances. Cavalry units can move over a larger area of the battlefield, and are useful for getting to objectives quickly. Characters that heal should avoid direct combat when possible. Follow up fights by healing injured allies. Look out for characters that can be recruited. Some units can only be recruited by specific characters or through specific interactions. By carefully exploring the map, you find extra allies and valuable items. With permanent death it is especially important to save on a regular basis. If a key character is lost, players can opt to go back to an earlier save rather than continue without that character.
