Story

Duck Hunt is not a story-driven campaign with dialogue, characters, or a long narrative. Instead, the game puts the player in the role of a hunter taking part in shooting competitions in a marshland setting. A hunting dog helps to kick off the action by flushing ducks into the air, giving the player an opportunity to aim and shoot. The main objective is to demonstrate precision, reach the necessary targets and progress through successive rounds. As the challenge progresses, players have to react quickly to moving targets and make better use of their limited shots. Clay-pigeon is a different challenge, focused on shooting small targets in the air. The experience is based on short rounds, and the goal is not a complicated storyline, but better accuracy and results.

Gameplay

Duck Hunt is a light-gun shooting game that tests the player’s aim, reaction time and accuracy. In the main duck-shooting modes, the hunting dog is present in a marshland setting and sends ducks flying up into the air. Players have to shoot the moving targets before they escape. Each duck gives the player a limited opportunity to score hits and the game’s target requirements need to be met to progress through the rounds. Game A presents one duck at a time, while Game B presents two ducks at a time, making the task more challenging. The game also features a clay-pigeon mode where the players shoot flying clay targets instead of ducks. Targets can get tougher to hit as rounds go on, meaning you need to react faster and aim more accurately. The original version used the NES Zapper light gun, so its classic controls are not what you’d expect from button-based shooting games. Duck Hunt is easy to understand and the gameplay is simple. The more you play the better you will get at shooting.
