Knights of the Round is a classic side-scrolling beat ‘em up game developed and published by Capcom. It was originally released in the arcades in 1991 and later released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. The SNES game has players take control of one of three Arthurian warriors, Arthur, Lancelot or Percival, fighting through a mediaeval kingdom in search of the Holy Grail. The game also includes RPG elements, such as a progression system where characters gain experience and their weapons and armour are automatically upgraded as they level up, as well as traditional beat-'em-up combat. The SNES version of the game has single-player and two-player co-op modes. Not only can players attack with swords, but they can block, jump, and unleash a powerful Mega Crush attack. The story is loosely based on the legendary world of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The sacred sword Excalibur has been drawn from the stone by Arthur but Britain is still torn by war. The Holy Grail is said to be the key to restoring peace to the kingdom. Arthur joins forces with two other warriors, Lancelot and Percival and embarks on a perilous journey across Britian. Their journey takes them through villages, castles, forests and enemy held territories filled with soldiers, knights, sorcerers and other hostile forces. The player must fight through the kingdom, defeating enemies and bosses of increasing power, and finally reclaiming the Grail. The story is told mostly by means of short stage introductions and progression, not long cinematic sequences. The adventure has a good mix of play, as the three playable knights each have their own strengths in combat. Arthur has a balanced style, Lancelot is fast, Percival is more powerful but slower.

Knights of the Round is a classic side scrolling beat ‘em up. Players go through stages, fighting groups of enemies with swords and other attacks . The simple combat system is easy to pick up but positioning, blocking and timing become more important as enemies become stronger. The game features an RPG-like level up system. Players automatically gain new weapons and armour for their characters as they gain experience. This means that the knights look and fight differently as the adventure progresses. Combat is standard sword attacks, jumping attacks, blocking and a special powerful attack. The Mega Crush attack will clear or badly damage enemies around the player, but at the cost of some of the character’s health. Horseback combat is another interesting mechanic. In some parts the knights can ride horses and attack enemies when mounted. Horses can also do a forward stomp if the player presses forward twice quickly. The SNES version also includes two-player co-op, allowing two players to work together to progress through the adventure.

How to Play Knights of the Round | Rom-download

Select the one or two player game from the title screen to play Knights of the Round and then select Arthur, Lancelot or Percival. Navigate through each side-scrolling level with your knight, attack enemies with your sword, block incoming attacks and use jumps to get around. Break barrels and other objects when appropriate to find useful items, gather food to restore your health and keep an eye on your experience gain as your knight gets stronger. Use the Mega Crush when you need it, but use it sparingly as it takes up health. Horseback sections should use mounted attacks and the horse's forward stomp. The main goal is to survive each stage, defeat its enemies and bosses, and keep searching for the Holy Grail.
