The plot of LEGO Ninjago: The Videogame is about the battle of Sensei Wu’s forces and the Army of Lord Garmadon. Both sides are after the four mighty Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu – the Sword of Fire, Nunchucks of Lightning, Scythe of Quakes and Shurikens of Ice. Led by Sensei Wu, the Masters of Spinjitzu hope to use the weapons for a different purpose than his brother, Lord Garmadon. Garmadon leads the Skeleton Army and attempts to acquire the weapons while battling the forces of Spinjitzu. Players participate in missions in which they must build and control forces, deploy heroes and units, defeat enemy troops and progress through the campaign. The plot is loosely based on the early Ninjago universe and its struggle between the ninja forces and the Skulkin/Skeleton forces. The two-sided nature of the campaign allows players to experience the conflict from two different perspectives. Instead of controlling one character throughout the game, players control groups of units and make strategic decisions across different battles .

LEGO Ninjago: The Videogame mixes real-time strategy, action, army management and LEGO gameplay. Players control groups of characters and units during a battle as they try to meet objectives and destroy enemy units. The game tasks players with where they want to deploy their units and how they want to engage enemy forces. Different units have different abilities, so to succeed you can’t just send all of your characters straight at the opponent. Players can build up their forces and upgrade them before sending them out to battle. Heroes and units may be used for other purposes, and special abilities and spells may give important benefits in combat. Spinjitzu is one of the main mechanics of the game. This martial-arts skill lets characters unleash powerful spinning attacks that can help clear groups of enemies. You will use the Nintendo DS touchscreen and controls to manage the strategic aspects of the game and to interact with the various systems in the game. The game has many modes with four of them being dedicated to multiplayer warfare. With Multi-Card Play, players can face off against each other in strategic battles using different Nintendo DS systems and copies of the game.

First, you select the available campaign or game mode, and which faction you want to command. Choose a side and command either the Masters of Spinjitzu or Lord Garmadon’s Skeleton Army. Look at the battlefield during missions and decide where your units should be placed. Don't send all your troops to one area, deploy troops carefully. Each character and unit has its own strengths, so combining them wisely will make battles much easier. Build and upgrade your army on the go. Use your resources to upgrade your troops and get them ready for tougher and tougher battles. Special moves, spells and Spinjitzu skills can help you gain a leg up in battle. These skills can be used to wipe out groups of enemies or save important units if used at the right time. Be concentrated on the task at hand. Some missions require you to defeat enemy forces, others are about strategic objectives and battlefield control. Make sure to upgrade your army and unlock new capabilities as you progress through the campaign. The ultimate goal is to progress in the war and battle for the ownership of the mighty Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu. Multiplayer: Connect compatible Nintendo DS systems with Multi-Card Play to choose from multiplayer battle modes.
