The story is about Monkey D. Luffy, a pirate captain with rubber-powered abilities who wishes to discover the legendary treasure called One Piece and become the King of the Pirates. Luffy starts his adventure through the East Blue, meeting various islands, pirates, Marines, villains and future crewmates. The game loosely adapts key plot points from the early East Blue Saga. Luffy's journey introduces him to characters who will later become part of the Straw Hat Pirates. They are Roronoa Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji. Combat is crucial at nearly every stage, since enemies tend to block the player's path. The game features platforming sections in which players jump through different environments, avoiding dangers and fighting enemies. The gameplay revolves around Luffy’s rubber powers. His attacks allowed him to attack enemies from a distance, and do powerful techniques from the anime. The paths are not only straight.
