Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney |ROM-DOWNLOAD Story

The story revolves around Phoenix Wright, a young defence attorney who has just started his career at the Wright & Co. Law Offices. Phoenix is devoted to the rights of the innocent and the pursuit of truth, even when the evidence seems to point directly to his client. The first big case shows Phoenix the hard reality of courtroom battles. Phoenix must defend his childhood friend, Larry Butz, who is accused of killing his girlfriend. Phoenix must investigate the crime and find holes in the case the prosecution has brought if he is to win. Phoenix's opponent in the courtroom is Miles Edgeworth, a prosecutor of great success who appears extremely confident and rarely loses a case. Edgeworth and Phoenix have a history together that grows more and more important as the story goes on. Another central character is Maya Fey, a young spirit medium who becomes Phoenix’s assistant. Maya is caught up in one of the first cases of the game and joins Phoenix in investigating future mysteries. As Phoenix takes on more cases, the mysteries become more and more intricate. Witnesses can lie, evidence can be mistaken, and important information can be deliberately concealed. Phoenix has to go to crime scenes and talk to people involved in each case. He then takes the evidence he has found to court, using it to discredit the testimony of witnesses. Cases are connected through recurring characters and events. It starts out looking like two mysteries one after the other, but it's a bigger story about Phoenix, Maya, Edgeworth and their pasts. The last cases are especially important as Phoenix uncovers information that turns his views of Edgeworth and the justice system upside down. The Nintendo DS version also adds a fifth case, Rise from the Ashes, with new characters, evidence, locations and gameplay mechanics. This case was made specifically for the DS release and makes use of the features of the system quite extensively.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney |ROM-DOWNLOAD Gameplay

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is mostly a visual novel style adventure. The gameplay consists of investigating mysteries and presenting evidence in court. During the Investigation Phase, players control Phoenix as he searches various locations. Such locations may include crime scenes, the offices, courtrooms, detention facilities, and other locations relevant to the current case. Players can look at objects to find clues. Some objects are critical evidence; others could just provide extra dialogue or funny commentary. Speaking to witnesses is another big part of investigation. Phoenix can question people about the case and find out new information. Some characters will not answer some questions until Phoenix finds more evidence. The Court Phase is where the game’s signature gameplay is revealed. Witnesses give testimony describing what they say happened. Phoenix needs to read each statement carefully and decide if it contradicts the evidence. Players can question witnesses for more information or introduce evidence to counter conflicting statements. The trick is to find the right contradiction. If Phoenix introduces irrelevant evidence, the judge may find Phoenix an unreliable witness. The courtroom becomes a space for solving puzzles. They will need to understand the testimony, check the evidence and work out exactly where the evidence goes against what the witness has said. It also includes tense courtroom scenes, during which Phoenix can object to testimony, uncover hidden facts, and reveal false statements. The DS version has touch screen features and special features in the fifth case. These additions help to make the DS release different from the original Game Boy Advance version.

How to Play Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney |ROM-DOWNLOAD

Launch the game and select the case that is available. The adventure of Phoenix starts with investigation, that introduces the characters and circumstances of the crime. Investigate every possible place during investigations. Talk to witnesses and other characters to find out more about what happened. Obtain important items at crime scenes. Evidence can be crucial to the court process later. Check evidence inventory regularly at Phoenix. Any evidence could be relevant in cross-examining witnesses. When you go to court, listen to all the testimonies. Do not jump straight to evidence just because something seems suspicious. Read each statement carefully and compare it to the evidence you have gathered. If a witness says something that contradicts the evidence, select the evidence that is relevant and present it. You also can click through on testimony statements to get more detail. Sometimes when you push a witness, they will remember something new that changes the meaning of their testimony." Watch what evidence you present. Wrong answers may hurt Phoenix's courtroom credibility and may force you to re-evaluate your approach. Pay attention to dialogue because the game often gives clues through conversations. In later cases, the mysteries are more complex, with players needing to connect several pieces of evidence together. The most important skill is the logical thinking. Don't say what you think, look at the evidence and see how that fits in with what the witness said.
