Quake 3: Arena |ROM-DOWNLOAD Story

Quake III Arena doesn’t have a traditional cinematic campaign with a long linear story. The game instead takes place in a futuristic combat setting focused on the Arena Eternal, where legendary warriors are assembled by an ancient alien race called the Vadrigar. The game takes place in a world where warriors from all times and worlds are gathered, and forced to fight for the entertainment of their mysterious alien hosts. These fighters are not just ordinary soldiers. They are composed of legendary fighters, machines, aliens, mercenaries and other powerful fighters chosen for their fighting abilities. The Vadrigar watch the fights for their own amusement. The arenas are integrated as dangerous combat environments with weapons, traps, vertical areas, platforms, corridors, open spaces and power-ups. Every fight tests your speed, accuracy, movement and survival. The fighters enter the arena and players choose a fighter. The aim differs depending on the game mode chosen. In Free for All, every opponent is a target and the player has to get the most kills. Team Deathmatch sees players split into teams, who must work together to eliminate the opposing side. The tournament mode offers a more structured competitive experience. The player fights opponents one by one, progressing through progressively harder battles. Wins let the player move further in the tournament and eventually get to play harder opponents. As such, the storyline exists more through the setting, character descriptions, arena progression and competitive structure of the game rather than traditional cutscenes. The design reflects the overall goal of Quake III Arena, which is to provide fast, replayable combat instead of a traditional story-driven campaign. The futuristic setting means that every match is part of some huge interdimensional contest. Warriors are set in odd environments that combine ancient architecture, futuristic technology, industrial buildings and alien designs. It's this weird mix of characters and locations that gives Quake III Arena its own flavor. You will be able to control different warriors and fight in arenas that feel very different from each other. The whole story is an eternal tournament of the greatest warriors who are thrown against each other again and again. Winning in matches allows a fighter to dominate, and to go on and become the ultimate champion of Arena Eternal.

Quake 3: Arena |ROM-DOWNLOAD Gameplay

Quake III Arena is a first person shooter with very fast-paced gameplay. Quake III Arena is not like the more relaxed feel of shooters where players can spend a lot of time exploring. You're thrown straight into combat-focused arenas. Motion is one of the most important parts of the gameplay. Players constantly move around the environment, aiming and attacking at opponents. Strafing, jumping, dodging and knowing the layout of each arena can make a huge difference in combat. Weapons lie scattered across the arenas. Players start with basic equipment and can find better weapons as they explore. Some weapons are better for some situations than others. Some work well up close, others can be used to attack opponents from a distance. The Rocket Launcher is one of the most iconic weapons in-game. Players can shoot rockets at opponents, or use the explosive effects to influence movement around the arena. It also lets skilled players use rocket jumps to get to high places or quickly cross parts of the map . The Railgun is another important weapon that rewards precision. It can deliver very powerful attacks, so precise aiming is a must. The Plasma Gun, Shotgun, Lightning Gun, and other weapons offer different combat options. Power-ups add another element of strategy. Players can scavenge arenas for health, armor, ammunition and special power-ups. A seasoned player can get a big advantage by controlling key power-up spots. Matches tend to be quite fast and very replayable. Arenas are small compared to traditional shooter levels, so often opponents can run into each other. The AI controlled bots are also an important part of the single player experience. Players can train against computer-controlled opposition before jumping into multiplayer matches. Different bot characters have different combat ability and different personalities. Fast movement, powerful weapons, vertical level design, power-ups and aggressive opponents combine for a gameplay style that rewards practice and reaction speed.

How to Play Quake 3: Arena |ROM-DOWNLOAD

Start up Quake III Arena and choose what kind of game you want. Depending on the platform and setup, players can either participate in single-player battles against bots or multiplayer modes. Choose a character and enter the selected arena. When the match begins, walk around the environment and look for weapons, ammo, armour, health and power-ups. Use the weapons available depending on the distance and position of your opponents. When you have enemies close to you, weapons for close range combat can be useful, and weapons for long range can be useful across open areas. Combat movement. Standing still makes you easier to hit for opponents. Learn to strafe, jump, dodge projectiles and use the environment to your advantage. Concentrate on the main points of the arena. Some locations spawn weapons and power-ups, so knowing where they are can help you control the match. Free For All: Try to get the highest score by killing as many opponents as possible. Team Deathmatch: Work with your teammates to beat the opposing team. There’s a tournament mode where you’ll have to fight through a series of increasingly difficult battles. Playing against bots is a good way to start for beginners, to learn the way weapons behave, the layout of the arena, movement and timing for the fights.
