Viewtiful Joe 2 continues the story of Joe and Silvia, picking up right where the first game left off. The scene is in Movie Land, a colourful world where the fantasy of the movies is real. The sequel is about Joe and Silvia in a new conflict, although Joe has already become a superhero who can control the action around him. The story tells of the mysterious villains who attack Movie Land and the fight of Captain Blue and the Rainbow Oscars. Joe and Silvia must move through different movie-inspired environments, fight enemies, overcome traps, and solve puzzles while trying to restore order. Silvia is no longer just standing behind Joe. She becomes a playable hero with her own moveset and abilities. Switching between Joe and Silvia becomes an integral part of progressing through certain areas and solving certain challenges.

Viewtiful Joe 2 mixes side-scrolling action with platforming and puzzle-solving. Players can choose to play as Viewtiful Joe or Silvia, and can switch between them at any point during gameplay. Both characters have Slow and Zoom VFX powers, Joe specialises in Mach Speed while Silvia uses Replay. Slow slows down the action, allowing players to dodge attacks, manipulate projectiles, and set up counterattacks. Zoom pushes the camera in and makes the characters' attacks more powerful. Joe’s Mach Speed lets him move and attack at breakneck speeds, while Silvia’s Replay records an action and repeats it over and over. The VFX system is at the heart of combat and exploration. Players should learn enemy attack patterns and use the right VFX power at the right time rather than just attacking continuously. VFX abilities are also used in the game to activate mechanisms, manipulate objects, overcome hazards, and solve environmental puzzles.

Start the campaign and select your favourite difficulty. Defeat enemies, collect film reels, jump between platforms and solve environmental puzzles to explore the different Movie Land levels. Use of Controller Use stick to move and dodge A to jump X to kick Y to punch Enemies will attack . Use L with Slow to control the pace of the action and create openings . Use B or the C-Stick with Zoom to strengthen close-range attacks. Joe can turn Mach Speed on with R, but Silvia has Replay on the same key. Use Z to switch between Joe and Silvia whenever a character's unique ability is needed. As you progress, collect resources, purchase or unlock upgrades, and learn how each VFX power interacts with enemies and the environment.
