Worms World Party takes the chaotic turn-based warfare of the Worms series to the Game Boy Advance. The GBA version was released in 2002 and developed as a handheld adaptation by Fluid Studios and published by Ubisoft, originally released on other platforms in 2001. Rather than a traditional army , players control teams of cartoon worms armed with an arsenal of weapons and utilities . The battles take place on destructible two-dimensional landscapes where position, aim, movement and weapon selection are all important. The objective is simple, kill the other worms, but keep your team alive. The GBA edition includes single-player missions, quick battles and multiplayer-oriented gameplay. It also retains the recognizable Worms formula of carefully aiming weapons, navigating uneven terrain and using environmental positioning to create tactical advantages. The official Team17 site confirmed the GBA release to be released in Europe on October 4, 2002.

Worms World Party doesn't really have a story like a movie. Rather, it is a game of ridiculous military-style battles between teams of worms. Each team enters a battlefield with hills, tunnels, platforms, water and other environmental elements. The player’s progression is structured by missions and battles. Your worms have to survive attacks from the other team, and use weapons and movement abilities to gain the upper hand. The presentation is lighthearted, which doesn’t quite match the tactical nature of the gameplay, where each battle feels like a miniature battlefield of unpredictable explosions and environmental destruction. The mission structure adds some goals to the single-player experience besides just killing an opponent. Players learn the complexities of the weapons and utilities slowly, in more and more complex terrain and situations.
