The story begins with Doctor Neo Cortex finding a way to shrink the Earth. Using his powerful technology, Cortex shrinks the planet down to a tiny size and puts the world in serious danger. Crash Bandicoot must find a way to stop Cortex and return the Earth to its normal size. To do this Crash has to travel across different areas and find the items needed to reverse the shrinking process. Crash’s sister, Coco Bandicoot, will also have a big part to play in the adventure. She explains the situation to Crash and tells him about the mission. Throughout the game Crash also encounters some of the series' familiar villains such as Dr. Neo Cortex, N. Gin and other enemies opposing him. Crash’s journey takes him through forests, snowy environments, industrial locations, desert and other distinctive areas. Each world is made up of a number of stages with different platforming challenges. Crash has to beat enemies, dodge deadly traps, and pick up important objects. The game retains the humorous tone of the Crash Bandicoot series, but develops a new story exclusively for the Game Boy Advance. The further you get into the adventure, the harder the challenges get. Crash must use his powers wisely to defeat powerful bosses and progress. The mission: to thwart Cortex’s scheme and save the Earth before it’s too late.

Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure is a side-scrolling 2D platformer. Crash is player-controlled and takes place over a series of levels filled with platforms, enemies, obstacles, crates, collectibles, and secret areas. Crash’s main attack is his signature spin. He can spin to defeat many enemies and break certain objects. Jumping is just as important. Players will need to jump over gaps, reach platforms, avoid hazards and land accurately. You can collect Wumpa Fruit throughout the levels in the game. Crash also has to gather sufficient Wumpa Fruit to help him survive and to progress overall. Crates also play a major part of the gameplay. Different types of crates make different effects. Some hold Wumpa Fruit, some give extra lives, some give special bonuses. The levels also contain TNT and other dangerous objects. Players should be able to recognise these hazards and either avoid them or use them strategically. In the adventure, Crash can gain some extra abilities. These skills enhance the gameplay and enable him to overcome various obstacles. Bonus stages are extra challenges and opportunities to get rewards. Boss fights appear at major points in the game. Each boss has its own attack patterns, and players will have to learn when to attack and when to avoid damage. The game has simple controls but the level design gets more complex with time, so timing and precision are important.

Some levels contain areas that reward careful exploration. Avoid rushing through difficult sections. Observe moving platforms and hazards before making a jump. When you gain new abilities, learn how they work and use them to overcome new obstacles. During boss battles, study the boss's movement and attack pattern. Wait for an opportunity before making your attack. Try to collect as many useful items as possible while progressing through the stages.
