The story kicks off with a young boy named Ikki Tenryou, who dreams of becoming a great Medafighter. When dealing with Medabots, it is common practice for children and adults to use robots for organized battles called Robattles. These mechanical companions run on Medals and can be fitted out with a variety of body parts and weapons. Ikki does not have a Medabot of his own at first, but his adventure changes when he gets Metabee. Metabee is no normal obedient robot, he has a strong personality and can be hard to control. As Ikki learns to work with his new partner, their relationship becomes one of the central elements of the adventure. Strange things are happening in the quiet life of Ikki's hometown, Riverview City. The Rubberobo Gang, a criminal organization with an interest in Medabots and Medals, is up to no good. Ikki gets involved in the investigation of their activities and often finds himself battling members of the organization in Robattles. His main objective gradually becomes stopping the Rubberobo Gang and protecting the people and Medabots around him. During the adventure, Ikki meets several important characters, including friends and rivals. On the journey, characters such as Erika, Koji and Karin get involved. The story also includes the mysterious Phantom Renegade, who adds another layer of mystery to the adventures of Ikki. In the first of the early adventures, Ikki heads for Mt. Odoro, where rumors circulate of a mysterious ghost stealing Medaparts. What begins as a supernatural mystery eventually links to the Medabots and the larger events taking place in the area. Ikki continues on and the adventure is outside of Riverview City. He travels through various environments, meets new Medafighters, discovers new Medaparts and learns more about the plans of the Rubberobo Gang. The story is filled with school events, mysterious characters, Medabot incidents and ever more difficult Robattles. Ikki also gets caught up in Medabot Island where the stakes of the adventure ratchet up considerably. His enemies are getting stronger, and the Rubberobo Gang is getting meaner. The final battle of the story has Ikki taking on the very forces behind the major events of the game. With Metabee and his other Medabots, he has to use everything he knows about Robattling, Medals and Medaparts to beat powerful enemies. So the storyline is more than simply winning individual robot battles. It is about Ikki’s journey from a raw Medafighter to a competent competitor, learning the secrets of the Medabots, and stopping the people threatening his world.

Medabots: Metabee is a blend of exploration of classic role playing games and a dedicated tactical battle system. Outside of Robattles, players control Ikki moving through towns, buildings, roads, schools, mountains, islands, and other locations. Players can interact with characters, examine objects, collect items, complete tasks and discover new locations. At its heart, the game revolves around the Robattle system. You can have up to three Medabots per side, so building your team is very important. Players choose their Medabots and decide which robot will be the leader before battle. Each Medabot has several important components. These are a head, right arm, left arm and legs and also a Medal and Tinpet framework. The Medaparts are all different, each one with its own attacks, stats and tactical advantages. Players don’t just choose a basic attack each turn, but choose individual Medaparts and decide what each Medabot will do. One Medabot may be specialized for shooting attacks and another for close range attacks and another for healing or defensive support. The combat system also considers individual body parts. If an opponent's part is damaged enough, it can become unusable during the Robattle. Destroying the opposing leader's head is especially important because it can determine the outcome of the battle. Terrain is another strategic element. Different Robattle fields favor different types of legs and movement abilities. Choosing suitable leg Medaparts can improve a Medabot's performance depending on whether the battle takes place on a plain, rock, water, seashore, wilderness, street, desert, or another type of environment. Players can also develop Medal skills by repeatedly using particular abilities. This creates a progression system where the player's preferred attack style can become stronger over time. Winning Robattles can also provide new Medaparts and other rewards. This encourages players to continue fighting opponents and experimenting with different combinations of equipment.

Start up the game and play through Ikki's first story until he obtains Metabee. Talk to characters and look around to learn about new objectives and events. When a Robattle starts, choose the Medabots you want to use. Generally you can bring up to three Medabots into battle, so think about making a balanced team instead of just one robot. In battle, go to the Medaparts menu and select the appropriate head, arm or other ability. The parts have different types of attacks and effects. Look for damage on the opponent and try to disable dangerous weapons before they can do serious harm. Leader matters. Protect your own leader and try to kill the other leader’s head. Defeat the enemy leader and you can end the Robattle immediately. Use your legs to match the ground. A good part of preparation is also the right equipment. A Medabot with the right legs can do better in some environments. Gather more Medaparts and Medals as you progress. Try different combinations to create attacking, defensive, healing or specialized Medabots. When not fighting, explore towns and other places cautiously. - Interact with NPCs - Search areas - Complete story missions - Mark key items Certain events require specific characters, locations or Medaparts. Regular saving is also recommended, particularly before important Robattles or big story moments.
