Story

Pokémon Battle Revolution takes place in Pokétopia, an island resort centred around awesome Pokémon battles. Instead of a traditional Pokémon adventure with gyms, wild Pokémon routes and a lengthy story campaign, players move through a series of battle venues called Colosseums. Each venue is different in its atmosphere, rules and challenges, which means players have to adapt teams and tactics to suit the opposition. The player assumes the identity of a Trainer and participates in battles with a range of rival Trainers. Victory unlocks further challenges and rewards, and customisation options allow players to create a unique look. Instead of catching Pokémon throughout a large overworld, the focus is on building effective teams, understanding type matchups and selecting the right moves. For players with compatible Nintendo DS games, the experience can also feature Pokémon they have already trained in Pokémon Diamond or Pokémon Pearl.

Gameplay

The core gameplay is turn-based Pokémon battles in full 3D. They choose moves for their Pokemon , think about type advantages and disadvantages , think about health , and try to kill the other team . The attacks boast Wii-optimized animations and visual effects, and recognisable Pokémon moves are performed in a more theatrical way. Each team is made up of a number of pokémon and the result of the battle depends on the type of pokémon on the team, the moves the pokémon uses, the abilities of the pokémon and the move of the player in each turn. Pokétopia features ten themed Colosseums, each with its own unique setting or challenge structure for battles. Players can jump into the single-player challenges, use rental Pokémon where available, and customise their Trainer Pass. The game also features Nintendo DS connectivity with compatible systems to bring eligible teams of Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl into battles on the Wii. This makes the title even more attractive for players who want to see their existing teams in a larger 3D showcase.
