Pokémon HeartGold Version is a role-playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. It is a remake of the original Pokémon Gold, and is paired with Pokémon SoulSilver Version. The game takes players back to the Johto region, but with new graphics, new sound, new touch-screen features, new gameplay systems and new content that’s designed for the Nintendo DS generation. The Japanese version was released on September 12, 2009, and the North American version on March 14, 2010.
The adventure begins in the Johto region, where players receive their first Pokémon and begin exploring towns, routes, caves, forests, and other locations. Along the way, players catch and train Pokémon, challenge Gym Leaders, investigate Team Rocket, and work toward becoming Pokémon Champion.
One of the more notable features of HeartGold is the ability to have a Pokemon follow you in the over-world. The game also introduced compatibility with the Pokéwalker accessory, allowing players to transfer a Pokémon to the device, walk with it, earn experience and find items, then return the Pokémon to the game.
