Story

Pokémon Ultra Violet continues the familiar Pokémon FireRed adventure in the Kanto region. Players start their adventure in Pallet Town, receive a chance to choose a first Pokémon, and travel through towns and routes while battling Trainers and Gym Leaders. Team Rocket is still part of the main adventure. The goal is still to build a stronger Pokemon team, collect Gym Badges and work toward becoming the Pokemon League Champion. Ultra Violet is not designed to replace the original story in its entirety, but to improve the collection experience. Players can find more Pokémon, extra content and hunt for a much larger Pokédex than the regular FireRed. The additional availability changes allow players who want to complete their Pokédex to get Pokémon from the first three generations without needing a second game to get many of the usual version-exclusives or trade-only encounters.

Gameplay

The gameplay sticks to the familiar turn-based battle system and exploration structure of Pokémon FireRed. Players journey through Kanto , encounter wild Pokémon , catch them , train their team , learn moves , and battle other Trainers . Pokémon types, move selection, team balance and experience are still key to success. The main progression goals are gym battles and the Pokémon League, with optional encounters and collection tasks offering players more to explore. The main difference is the availability of Pokemon and the changes made to allow for a more complete collection in one save file. The hack includes a mix of Pokémon from the first two generations via encounter and availability changes, while 4-Points Isle adds another location with ties to Generation III Pokémon. Some trade evolutions are also tweaked so that players can evolve some Pokémon without connecting a second game. Version 1.22 is about save compatibility, not a new major story line.
