Prince of Persia 2 | Rom-Download
About This Games
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame is a cinematic platform adventure that picks up the story of the original Prince of Persia. The Super Nintendo version was released in North America in October 1996 and ported the computer game to Nintendo's 16-bit console. SNES packaging and publishing information recorded by SNES game databases, while Psygnosis is also associated with the regional packaging and publishing information handled by Titus Software for the SNES version. The game is a mix of precise platforming, sword fights, environmental puzzles and dangerous traps. Players take control of the Prince as he makes his way through ancient Persian environments, climbing narrow ledges, avoiding deadly obstacles, and fighting enemies that stand between him and his objective. The SNES version has some differences from the computer versions, such as missing features and levels, so it should be considered a separate release for the platform and not a straight conversion.

Story
The story takes place after the events of the original Prince of Persia. The Prince has defeated the evil vizier Jaffar and earned the right to marry the Princess, so it seems like he has a peaceful future ahead of him. But in the sequel Jaffar is back through the use of dark magic, and takes over the form of the Prince creating a new threat. The Prince is driven from the royal court and must flee for his life. His journey takes him from the safety of the palace to unknown surroundings, full of hostile creatures, armed enemies, deadly traps and ancient ruins. He has to get through these tests and find a way back to face Jaffar. Mostly the story is told through gameplay, environmental changes and short story sequences. The game allows the player to experience the Prince's struggle through exploration, combat and increasingly difficult platforming sections, instead of relying on long cinematic scenes. The SNES version keeps the basic premise of the original sequel, but its adaptation leaves out some content, including the final level. Therefore, players should expect a version-specific progression, not a full re-creation of every stage from the computer release.
Gameplay
Prince of Persia 2 is a cinematic platformer that puts a heavy emphasis on timing, precision and careful observation. The player has to traverse the side scrolling environments filled with ledges, platforms, pits, spikes, gates and other perils. You have to think about every move you make. If you take a wrong jump or step, you could get hurt or killed. Sword fighting plays a big role in the sequel. Unlike the first game, where enemies were usually encountered individually, Prince of Persia 2 can throw multiple enemies at the player at the same time. Players will have to measure distance, parry incoming strikes, and look for openings to attack. If the Prince fights carelessly, he can be caught off guard especially if the enemies are coming from different positions. Another major feature is exploration. Players will have to find their way through unknown territory, find useful objects, and learn how the environment hazards work. Magic potions can have helpful effects. Progression is affected by switches, doors and other mechanisms. The SNES version retains the main mix of platforming, swordplay and puzzle-solving, but has its own downsides. This version differs from others on the game's platform history in that it lacks some stages and features.
