Zoids: Legacy is a science fiction role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance. The game takes place on the planet Zi, where pilots use powerful mechanical creatures called Zoids to fight battles between opposing forces. This makes choice of equipment and position important aspects of combat. The game also features a range of Zoid sizes from smaller machines up to a lot larger ones. Large Zoids have special positioning requirements, which adds another layer to team formation. Your first Zoid and pilot form the basis of your first team. Use the D-Pad to navigate menus and move around the world. You can move diagonally, vertically and horizontally, as the game supports eight directional movement. Upon entering towns, talk to characters and check out the important facilities for new equipment, story events and services. When a random encounter begins, be prepared with your Zoids and pilots before you choose your actions. Battles are turn-based, so you’ll want to pause to examine the enemy formation and choose the right attacks. Know how far and how fast each weapon travels before you pick a target. Some weapons can hit multiple enemies, others are made for specific positions. Keep your Zoids well equipped. Weapons have different characteristics and use energy so it’s not always best to use the strongest weapon every turn. Be mindful of your resources, and select gear that complements the Zoid and pilot using it. Pilot assignment is a big deal, too. Open the proper menu from the Zoid management menu, select the Zoid, then select a pilot from your available party. The game shows you how the pilot you pick affects the stats of the Zoid, and you can compare different combinations. Win battles and use the experience and materials you get to make your team stronger. Pilots can be upgraded and skills can be learned. Zoid Data and Core Parts can be used to create further machines.
